Language & Culture

Helpful phrases and cultural notes for international pilgrimage travel.

Our team helps pilgrims navigate language, local customs, and cultural details throughout the journey. A warm greeting and a grateful heart go a long way.

With multilingual support across six or more languages, your guides bridge every conversation — from the markets of the Old City of Jerusalem to the sanctuaries of Lourdes and Fátima. English is widely spoken at hotels and major sites on all of our itineraries.

  • Holy Land: “Shukran” (thank you, Arabic) and “Salaam” (peace) are always welcome.
  • Italy: “Grazie” and “Per favore” open every door.
  • France: A simple “Bonjour” before any request is considered essential courtesy.
  • Greece: “Efharisto” (thank you) delights local hosts.
  • Spain & Mexico: “Gracias” and “Por favor” travel far.

Modest dress is required in churches and holy sites: shoulders and knees covered. In many sanctuaries, silence is a form of prayer — your guides will always advise on local custom.
